Keep calm and be proud of who you are!

Meet Dr. Michelle Sullivan!

Does it feel sometimes like life has decided you need to play the game in survival mode? Do you find you're having difficulty in your relationships, avoiding things/people more often, or just having trouble coping with day-to-day stress? You don't have to suffer in silence. I work with children, teens, college students and adults who are working through life transitions, identity development, depression, anxiety, and more.

My specialties include obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), LGBTQ+ issues, and crisis and disaster mental health, but I am here to help you with the everyday stressors that life can throw your way. I am also kink and polyamory friendly/affirming. As a queer woman, it is important to me to create a non-judgmental and empathetic space for my clients.

Therapy works! Research shows that 70% of people who seek ERP therapy for OCD achieve long-term symptom relief. 75% of people who enter therapy for any reason see benefits. As a therapist trained in ERP, I am ready to support you in your journey. Book a free consultation with me through my website link to begin your path of healing and growth.

FAQ

Michelle's Therapeutic Approaches

Person-Centered Therapy

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

A Rogerian humanistic therapeutic approach where the client is an expert on themselves. The counselor recognizes that the person has the potential for change, and provides them with unconditional positive regard and empathy to provide a supportive environment in which they can grow and change for themselves.

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

This approach is tailored to client's individual needs, combining exposures to thoughts, images, objects, and situations that make the client anxious while helping to break the neural patterns that associate them with compulsions. As an evidence based therapy, this approach is effective in helping individuals living with OCD, phobias and anxiety to experience relief.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

Psychodynamic Therapy

An approach to therapy that focuses on the understanding that there are unconscious processes that manifest in the client's behavior, and takes a holistic perspective of the client’s life experience. The counselor interprets the mental and emotional processes that are occurring for the client rather than focusing on the behaviors while supporting the client in identifying patterns in their emotions, thoughts, and beliefs to gain insight.

Multicultural Therapy

Multicultural Therapy

Psychodynamic Therapy

A therapy based upon cultural assessment and philosophy that understands that individuals act from varied social contexts and world-views. The counselor holds the understanding that culturally (and also racially) diverse clients view the world through different lenses from each other and that the difficulties being faced are different for each person due to experiencing them from the unique perspective of that person's culture.

Feminist Therapy

Multicultural Therapy

Feminist Therapy

Feminist therapy focuses on the role that gender plays and the very specific challenges that people face in the world resulting from bias, oppression, power and control, discrimination, and other factors that affect their mental health. It was created primarily for women but has evolved to include people of all ages and gender expressions and identities who want to explore the role that gender lays in their lives and relationships.
