Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy is an eight-phase trauma-focused therapy created by Francine Shapiro. It is client-centered psychotherapy approached that accelerates the healing mechanisms of the mind. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation in combination with psychodynamic, cognitive, cognitive behavior, experiential, and somatic body therapies as an effective treatment of trauma.
