Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is a psychological treatment that integrates aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with mindfulness practices, which are derived from traditional meditation techniques. MBCT emphasizes mindfulness meditation practices, where individuals learn to focus on the present moment without judgment. This includes awareness of thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations.
Compassion-focused therapy (CFT) is a form of psychotherapy that emphasizes the development of self-compassion and compassion toward others. It was developed by psychologist Paul Gilbert to help individuals who struggle with high levels of shame, self-criticism, and self-blame, which are often linked to mental health issues like depression and anxiety.
A therapy based upon cultural assessment and philosophy that understands that individuals act from varied social contexts and world-views. The counselor holds the understanding that culturally (and also racially) diverse clients view the world through different lenses from each other and that the difficulties being faced are different for each person due to experiencing them from the unique perspective of that person's culture.
Strength-based therapy is a therapeutic approach that focuses on identifying and utilizing an individual's inherent strengths, resources, and abilities to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals. Instead of concentrating primarily on problems or deficits, this approach emphasizes what the person already does well and how those strengths can be leveraged for positive change.
