Treating trauma from a ‘whole-person’ perspective requires an understanding of the neurobiological functioning that occurs in the nervous system. This presentation will identify these processes and how they impact the treatment of trauma. Along with physiological reactions, there are detailed and specific emotions and beliefs that get stored in the sub-conscious concurrently. For example, shock, anger, self-blame, unworthy, etc. The specific beliefs and emotions that are stored are different based on the type of trauma, either a ‘loss’ trauma or a ‘violence’ trauma. Violence trauma is typically when something is done to the person (not only physical violence), versus a loss where something was taken away or never present that should have been there, in the case of neglect. Treating a loss trauma versus a violence trauma will be compared. This presentation will connect the mind and body components together along with demonstrating a meridian tapping technique to effectively alleviate the symptoms of PTSD and trauma.
This mental health training combines lecture and interactive exercises to introduce participants to Polyvagal Theory and its practical applications. The course covers the autonomic nervous system's role in emotional regulation, focusing on three core states: social engagement, fight-or-flight, and shutdown. Through engaging discussions and hands-on practice, participants will learn seven calming techniques inspired by Polyvagal Theory, such as breathing exercises, grounding strategies, and methods to activate the body's natural calming processes. These tools help individuals manage stress, enhance emotional well-being, and improve client care.
This training provides a thorough examination of both traditional and uncommon symptoms of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). While ADHD is commonly associated with symptoms like inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, individuals may also present with less recognized symptoms such as emotional dysregulation, sensory sensitivities, and executive functioning difficulties. Through a combination of lecture and interactive exercises, participants will enhance their ability to accurately diagnose and effectively manage ADHD in diverse populations, including children, adolescents, and adults.
Our child and adolescent counseling services are designed to help young people overcome a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, and more. Our therapists use evidence-based techniques to help children and teens develop coping skills, improve self-esteem, and achieve greater success in school and other areas of life.
This training provides a comprehensive overview of Solution-Focused Management techniques specifically tailored for addressing anxiety and panic attacks. Participants will gain insights into diagnosing anxiety disorders, understanding the neurobiology underlying anxiety, and recognizing less commonly known symptoms. The course will also offer practical, solution-focused strategies for managing panic attacks. Combining lecture-based instruction with interactive exercises, this training equips participants with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively address both common and less recognized aspects of anxiety and panic disorders.
This training, inspired by the work of Nedra Glover Tawwab, focuses on the essential skills of setting boundaries and engaging in advocacy within the counseling profession. Tawwab, a licensed therapist and boundary-setting expert, emphasizes the importance of clear, assertive communication in fostering healthy relationships—both professionally and personally. This training will explore her key principles of boundary-setting, common challenges counselors face, and practical strategies to advocate effectively for clients and themselves. Participants will engage in discussions, case studies, and experiential exercises to develop confidence in boundary enforcement and systemic advocacy.

This training equips mental health professionals with skills to assess, manage, and intervene with students facing suicidal ideation and non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI). Participants will learn age-appropriate risk assessments, crisis interventions, and therapeutic approaches. It also covers developmental differences, best practices for collaboration with clients and community resources, and practical safety planning. This hands-on training will include case studies, role-playing exercises, and crisis response planning to ensure participants feel confident managing acute crises in school settings.
