RAISE THROUGH GRIEF

Navigating Grief with the RAISE Process

Find out more

Learn How to RAISE Through Grief Go deep on grief once — and it will be different forever.

The RAISE Process:

  • R- Recognize: List all the emotions tied to your grief (shock, sadness, anger, blame, etc.)
  • A- Acknowledge: Focus on one emotion at a time — acknowledge it fully, out loud or in writing. Deep, comprehensive, uncomfortable.
  • I- Identify: where in your body that emotion lives
  • S- Soothe- Use somatics (tapping, breath-work, movement) to soothe your mind, body, and nervous system until the physical sensation shifts
  • E- Examine- Ask that emotion if it has anything left to tell you before it settles
  • Repeat for each emotion

We don't forget. We don't avoid. We don't just "move on." We understand, nurture, and find balance — in your mind, body, and nervous system.

Work through this with me fully, get started together and continue on your own, or follow my outline at your own pace.

What Successful Grief Processing Looks Like:

  • Thinking of your loved one brings joy, not pain
  • You laugh and smile reminiscing — tears aren't the default anymore
  • You can acknowledge that loss is sad without feeling it as tension in your body
  • You feel grateful for the time you had and celebrate them whenever you can
  • Holidays and milestones are no longer defined by their absence
  • Your dominant memory of them becomes everything before the loss
  • You find balance and acceptance — and choose how to live in a way that honors them
  • You grow more confident about what comes next
  • You're no longer afraid of pain returning, because now you know how to navigate it
  • You feel the weight lift — and you know something has genuinely changed

Navigating Grief with the RAISE Process

Release your RAISEs. Raise your quality of life.

In a fraction of a second, subconscious programming can trigger intense feelings of grief, anxiety, or heaviness. When these automatic responses take over, we find ourselves driven by latent tension—living out old stories designed to avoid pain rather than create happiness.

If the internal narratives chiming in the loudest are the most unhelpful, it is time to rewrite them.

What is the R.A.I.S.E. Process?

The R.A.I.S.E. Process is an eclectic somatic approach—informed by Reiki, NLP, EFT, breathwork, and Polyvagal Theory—designed to reorganize the mind and nervous system. It targets the five key elements of our subconscious programming:

  • Rules
  • Anticipations
  • Identities
  • Stories
  • Emotions

A Practical, Somatic Approach to Healing

We dismantle unhelpful, deeply held narratives brick by brick. This methodical approach ensures lasting, immediate somatic relief rather than temporary coping mechanisms.

  • Results-Oriented: Designed for those who want practical, rapid solutions, not endless "work."
  • Empowering & Fun: You no longer have to live at the mercy of accidental programming from your upbringing or environment.
  • Focused on You: A dedicated space where processing your grief and improving your quality of life is the absolute priority.

The change you need is closer than you think. Let’s engineer the version of you that you want to be.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at cwalsh@imperialcounselingllc.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Grief is universal and deeply personal at once. Loss feels enormous and complicated, yet we all encounter the same core emotions — shock, sadness, anger, blame. The RAISE Process honors both dimensions.

Using Muscle Testing as our guide, we move through your grief in the exact order and at the exact pace that supports you. One emotion at a time, we acknowledge everything you want to say and feel, then notice where that pain lives in the body. Once Muscle Testing confirms full expression, we immediately soothe the nervous system through somatics — tapping, breath-work, meditation, movement, or whatever works best for you.

Emotion by emotion, we move from full expression to regulation. Over time, this pattern permanently changes how those emotions feel.

Memory rarely takes us back to when something started — it takes us back to the last time we remembered it. That's what makes grief so disruptive: we reach for memories of our loved ones and find the pain of loss waiting there instead.

But your emotions don't want to be suppressed. Your connection doesn't want to be defined by loss — it wants to be defined by everything that came before. The problem is we rarely feel we have the right time or place to grieve fully. Make the time. When you do sink into the fullness of these feelings with patience and support, they can really settle in a way they never could when avoided.

Grief reconciliation works because we're not only revisiting pain at its most overwhelming — we're meeting it from an intentional place of safety and love. That combination of full expression and nervous system soothing creates a sense of completion: I've said it all, felt it all, learned what these emotions had to teach me. We never forget. But without the pain guarding the door, we can finally bring our loved ones closer — no longer afraid of what's been simmering just beneath the surface.

I've seen this process completely reshape people's connection to grief and help them reclaim joy with their loved ones — but my passion for it is personal. It's what worked for me, and it's what began my entire journey of creating The RAISE Process.

About ten years ago, with no experience in mental or emotional health work, I lost my father and one of my best friends within months of each other. Grief overwhelmed me. My personality, my mood, my entire outlook changed — I became unrecognizable, even to myself. For about a year, I just suffered: crying, staying home, avoiding people. I didn’t want reminders of who I’d lost, didn’t want to talk about them. And since everyone around me was grieving too, I felt alone — unwilling to add my pain to theirs.

I had no idea how to exist like this, and no idea if it could ever be different.

So I started learning — about the body, the nervous system, the subconscious, somatics — fortunate enough along the way to find excellent teachers. I stopped avoiding my grief and started engaging with it fully: deeply, thoughtfully, lovingly. Before long, my personality brightened. I could talk about the people I’d lost with ease and even joy again.

I believe in this process because I’ve lived it. It’s simple, effective, and it works — the feeling of loss goes so much deeper than the conscious mind and all parts of you need love and support. Don’t let grief define the rest of your life.
